Cookies - Make and decorate your own

Method

Tap a step when it's done.

1. 1Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan forced.
2. 2Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.
3. 3Cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Add egg and beat until combined.
4. 4Add flour and baking powder. Using a round bladed knife in a cutting motion, mix until a soft dough forms.
5. 5Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.
6. 6Shape into 2 disks a wrap each disk in cling wrap. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
7. 7Roll 1 disk to about 3mm -4mm thick. Cut into desired shapes and place on an oven tray. Repeat with the other disk.
8. 8Cook for 7 - 10 minutes, depending on the size of the cookies, or until lightly coloured. The moustache cookies in the picture took about 7 minutes, while the butterfly cookies took about 10 minutes.
9. 9Cool on trays.
10. 10Decorate as desired. The moustache cookies in the photo have chocolate icing on them. The other cookies have lemon buttercream icing and various decorations. One has been left plain.
